Position Available: Director, Government Relations & Special Projects
Description: This position reports to the company's Chief Financial Officer and to ownership. C.J. Segerstrom & Sons is a family business with assets that include South Coast Plaza and nearby office and other developments. This person will work closely with in-house professionals and outside consultants on infrastructure, real estate, political, philanthropic, and diverse special projects. This person will serve as the (non-retail) media spokesperson, community liaison, and public affairs advocate. Other responsibilities: review and advise regarding charitable and political requests; coordinate and help manage technical studies and other tasks necessary to support municipal entitlement efforts; manage various consultants; attend and as necessary provide representation at meetings of relevant public bodies, notably the Orange County Board of Supervisors, orange County Flood District, Orange County Transportation Authority, Caltrans, and the Cities of Santa Ana and Costa Mesa; attend and as necessary provide representation at meetings of relevant business groups, homeowners groups, and other associations; advise other directors and ownership regarding relevant community and general political trends; serve as "in house consultant" for purposes of reviewing matters and materials relevant to overall strategic communications and to solving ad hoc problems.
